About us
We started Lallygag Lane to produce our own food, be more self-sufficient, and control the quality of things we consume. Growing our food ensures that it is fresh, healthy, and free from harmful chemicals and additives.
This road less traveled provides us with a sense of fulfillment and connection to our land that we've not experienced before. Between our work here and with the Northern Central Texas Homestead Co-op, we work to preserve traditional knowledge and foster skills for future generations.
We focus on providing local food for local consumption because of its positive environmental impact. We use sustainable and regenerative practices, such as rotational grazing, natural pest control, and fertilization methods, to keep our environmental impact to a minimum.
This is also why we will never choose to ship products across the country. By focusing on the communities in our own backyard, we create robust food systems with smaller supply chains creating a more resilient economy for all.
Our priorities
-
All our animals spend their days lounging in the shade, cooling off under sprinklers, or eating from our all-you-can-eat pasture buffet. We adore and care for each individual, allowing them to live their best lives and bringing out the superior quality of all our products.
-
While we love that farms are finding new ways to bring products direct-to-consumer, is it genuinely sustainable to ship food from 1,000 miles away when there are local farms and farmers undiscovered just outside your doorstep?
Buying as locally as possible supports neighboring communities supports the planet through reduced carbon emissions, and builds smaller, more robust supply chains and economies. Know your farmer!
-
Strong communities provide individuals a sense of purpose where each role has meaning in the bigger picture. Everyone understands how their work connects to one another and adds value to the whole.
We desire to build a community where like-minded people willing to share their skills and abilities feel valued and supported by one another as we all navigate life's journey.
-
We implement regenerative sustainable farming practices and abstain from chemical fertilizers.
We also aspire to sell products within a reasonable driving distance of our farm. This limits the environmental impacts of shipping. If our society valued growing local markets supported by local farms, we could feed the world and spread, not consolidate wealth. At the same time, it also creates a healthier economy, environment, and individuals.
-
To teach the skills and value of hard work, we are a multi-generational small farm wholly owned and operated by our immediate family members. We only desire to scale our operation to support our core family unit. We prefer the quality of activities and products over pursuing the ability to scale and incur debt.
